Dr. Hendler, former assistant professor of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as well as past president of the American Academy of Pain Management. He has testified in 300 depositions and 75 trials in 12 states and lectured before 7 state trial associations.
He describes a typical PIP evaluation, where a client gets an X-ray, MRI and 20 sessions of chiropractic care, which exhausts PIP, and leaves the attorney with a normal MRI, normal X-rays and non-productive conservative care, resulting in a “diagnosis” of “whiplash” or “chronic cervical sprain or strain.” The insurance companies say “soft tissue injury with no objective medical findings,” and offers $3,500. Dr. Hendler describes a new PIP evaluation approach, which costs less than the current methods, documents organic pathology and gets policy limits of $25,000 or more.
